Billionaire and BET co-founder Sheila Johnson has closed a deal on her Virginia property, selling the home for $3.15 million. The sale comes after Johnson initially listed the residence at a lower asking price of roughly $2.8 million, meaning she ultimately secured more than her original target.
The home spans about 7,100 square feet and sits on a sizable plot in the Virginia countryside. Johnson, who built her fortune alongside her ex-husband Robert Johnson when they launched Black Entertainment Television in 1980, has been quietly trimming her real estate holdings in recent months. This particular property features multiple bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and outdoor amenities that fit the area's equestrian-friendly lifestyle.
Real estate records show the buyer closed the deal this week, with the final price landing above the initial listing. Johnson's decision to raise the asking price before the sale worked in her favor, a move that is somewhat unusual in a market where sellers often drop prices to attract offers. The property had been on the market for a short period before the transaction was finalized.
Johnson remains active in other ventures, including her role as owner of the WNBA's Washington Mystics and her work in hospitality with the Salamander Hotels chain. The Virginia sale is one of several property transactions she has completed recently, though she still maintains residences in other states.
