A Wagoner City Councilor has filed a 36-page lawsuit against the City of Wagoner, the mayor, and other local officials, alleging a consistent pattern of questionable real estate transactions. Councilor Nate Wilson claims the city has engaged in shady deals that violate state law and benefit a select few at the expense of taxpayers.
The lawsuit, which was made public this week, accuses city leaders of circumventing proper bidding processes and failing to disclose conflicts of interest in several property acquisitions and sales. Wilson alleges that the city has repeatedly sold or leased public land to private developers without following required procedures, effectively handing over valuable assets for far less than market value.
Specific allegations include the sale of a downtown lot to a developer with close ties to the mayor, as well as a lease agreement for a city-owned building that was never put up for public bid. Wilson claims that when he raised concerns during council meetings, he was met with hostility and stonewalling.
The suit names Mayor John Doe and several unnamed city employees as defendants. It seeks a court order to void the contested deals and demands that the city adopt new transparency measures for all future real estate transactions. City officials have not yet filed a formal response but have dismissed the lawsuit as politically motivated. A court date has not been set.
