An Israeli travel company is strengthening its real estate strategy by expanding its presence in Finnish Lapland. The group plans to add 48 new accommodation units and a luxury spa center to the Arctic Panorama Resort & Spa in Rovaniemi. The expansion is set to be completed ahead of the 2026-2027 winter season.
The move marks a deeper push into property development for the tourism operator, which has been steadily increasing its holdings in northern Europe. Rovaniemi, known as the official hometown of Santa Claus, has become a major winter destination for travelers from Israel and other countries. The resort already offers views of the Arctic landscape and access to activities like northern lights viewing and husky safaris.
The new units are designed to cater to a growing demand for high-end winter getaways. The spa center will add a wellness component, aiming to attract visitors looking for relaxation after outdoor excursions. The company sees the expansion as a way to secure long-term revenue in a region where tourism continues to grow.
Industry observers note that the move reflects a broader trend among travel firms investing in physical assets rather than relying solely on booking services. By owning and operating the resort, the company can control the guest experience and capture more value from each visitor. The project also signals confidence in the sustained popularity of Lapland as a winter tourism hub.
No financial details were disclosed. The company has not announced any further expansion plans beyond this project.
