Alexandria Real Estate Equities has finalized an amended and restated unsecured senior line of credit worth $5.0 billion. The real estate investment trust announced the closing of the facility, which extends the maturity date to January 2032. The new agreement also lowers the applicable borrowing margin, a change that reflects the company's efforts to manage its capital costs.
The company said the deal strengthens its long-term financial flexibility and shows continued backing from its existing banking partners. Those relationships have been in place for years, and the renewed facility gives Alexandria more room to operate as it manages its portfolio of life science and technology campuses.
The reduced borrowing margin means Alexandria will pay less interest on any drawn portion of the credit line. Combined with the extended maturity, the facility provides a stable source of liquidity through the end of the decade. The company described the move as part of its disciplined and proactive approach to balance sheet management.
Alexandria Real Estate Equities focuses on collaborative life science, agtech, and technology campuses in major innovation hubs across the United States. The $5.0 billion facility replaces the prior credit agreement and keeps the company's unsecured borrowing capacity at the same level while improving key terms.
